Ways to be Green

Wow in the last post I wrote many, many scary things. Now the time to spend your time off to read some ways to reduce your own emission.
(source y! green, stopglobalwarming.org, and wikihow

FIRST
UNPLUG Even when electronic devices are turned off, they use energy. Save over 1,000 lbs of carbon dioxide, alsooo your electricity bills could be reduced up to 10% per year.

SECOND
USE LESS, LESS, LESS WATER Dont use water heater. Cold water is way more, more freshing than the hot one, and causing less CO2 to the environment. Showers account for 2/3 of all water heating costs. Save 350 lbs. of CO2.

THIRD
USE RECYCLED ITEMS For girls: shop with your own eco-friendly fashionable collectible bag than those plastic bags. Fancier, eh? Also use recycled tissue paper, that's gonna save 5lbs of CO2 per ream.

FOURTH
DRIVE LESS For those in Jakarta: drive less could avoid the traffic jam, and your rising-impatient for waiting it. Use transjakarta (?) Or even bycicle to places which is near. Or just walk. Diet diet diet girls. Or do carpools to school. Or go hang out together in one car, more fun, less carbon :D

FIFTH
EDUCATE YOURSELF ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING I mean if you dont know what are the impacts of these THING, maybe u're not going to even care about telling your friends of glob's warming whatnots.

SIXTH
TELL PEOPLE TO USE ECO-FRIENDLY STUFFS Also tell yourself. Haahaa. Tell your mom, dad, sister, brother, friends, acquaintances, partners, and everyone to use something like: fluorescent bulb, bycicle, aaandd anything with less energy used. You can see some eco-friendly electronics examples here greenelectronics.com

SEVENTH
BUY PRODUCTS LOCALLY For instance: just shop in local Topshop at the nearest mall to your home than going to UK to check the latest trends. Haahaa. Joking. Anyway you also can buy local products: support the local economy. Do you know how far that blueberry you eat has traveled? :)

EIGHTH
GET USED TO THIS HOTHOT ENVIRONMENT Well, I mean we're going to be like this, and even more in the future. So please reduce the usage of your AC or thermostat. And dont idle in the car. BBM NAIK! :D

Well those are some. There are still lotsa things to do but I chose it for you because I think those are the easiest for you to do.. though there still lots which also are easy. Haahaa. come on, let us reduce our own emission.

Climate change may wipe some Indonesian islands off map

2035 : the Indonesian capital's airport will be flooded by sea water and rendered useless

Actual news: climate change may wipe some Indonesian islands off map

Well I read this news several days ago actually. This really scares me to death following the news I read about the collapsing UN Climate Change Conference, and that Al Gore's speech there. Whoo, and while environment ministers from those 180 or more countries are discussing how to cut the emission from industrial countries, the Arctic has had melted 552 billion tons of ice this summer, according to preliminary satellite data to be released by NASA Wednesday. That's 15 percent more than the annual average summer melt, beating 2005's record.
news: ominous arctic melt

Another day in peril. Haahaa. Indonesia is really vulnerable now. And while by 2080 Jakarta would lose 10 km inland from lapping tides, by 2030, Indonesia would lose 2000 islands off our map if sea levels continue to rise. By 2050, 24% of Jakarta will disappear. Yoo, I advice you my mates who live in Jakarta Utara, say hello to new home!

Obviously, what I keep saying about my hottthotthott Jakarta would continue permanently to grow. Temperatures are likely to rise between 1,1 - 5 celcius this century alone. Wow. I feel sorry for the generations after me. :(

And another thing about our-(hopenotsosoon)-to-be-underwater Jakarta is: we'll have more, more, moreee beaches and sea (oh, b**ch). Sea levels would rise 0,87cm per year till 2080. Isnt having more beaches like this is greatly, amazingly, SCARY?

Okay. If we're going to be underwater-ized, then this one maybe wouldnt surprise you mates in J-town. The next big thing who'll replace our beloved megapolitan city is Bandung. Keep in touch okay friends in Bandung, I think I'll join you in one or two decades.

Nah, I'm quite concerned for those who live in near north/south pole. Isnt the great change is amazing? The surface area of summer sea ice floating in the Arctic Ocean this summer was nearly 23 percent below the previous record. The dwindling sea ice already has affected wildlife, with 6,000 walruses coming ashore in northwest Alaska in October for the first time in recorded history. (source: ominous arctic melt)

Principally white ice reflects the heat off Earth surface. But when those white ice melts, about 90% heat goes to the ocean which would rise sea temperatures and an increase in sea levels, AND warm everything else up -- more, more melting.

Wow, is in 2008 Jakarta's going to be an oven? -_-"

Poverty

Bear with it? Dont care? Take an action? or.. ?

Today's fun, there was a seminar about public speaking at school. I thought it wasnt going to be lotsa fun, but FORTUNATELY I was very wrong. The MC is very fluent in speaking English and have one very great emceeing skill! There also was a session where we, students, must deliver a promptu speech (speech dadakan tanpa dipersiapkan dulu/unprepared speech) and a pal of mine Nadya aka Bebek represent my class! Ehehe, and waktu pemelihan pemenang gw mempelopori beberapa temen gw untuk standing ovation buat dia (karena pemenang dilihat dr suara supporter) and FINALLY BEBEK WON! Hihi :DD.

And then today gua menjatuhkan mulai dr sweet-buttered corn to HP continuously. Jeez my hands really love to spill or drop off things, and my sister even has a name for me in that case: soapy-hands!

Okay to the main topic, Poverty. I guess we all know what-poverty-is. According to answers.com, Poverty is the state of being poor; lack of the means of providing material needs or comforts.

So how I meet this topic and suddenly talking about this? Tadi waktu pulang dari rumah temen gue, di perempatan lampu merah Kelapa Gading - Kayu Putih - Pulo Gadung, gue ngeliat ibu2 lagi duduk merana banget lagi ngelonin anaknya yg masih bayi. Ia duduk bengong di pinggir jalan sambil meluk anaknya, kayanya sih mau nidurin. Sekilas gw liat itu kalo difoto, penuh dengan apa ya? emotionful bangetttt.. sayang gw gak bawa kamera DSLR gw dan kaca mobil nya Nadia yg gw pake itu dilapisin film, jadi gw gak bisa foto.

(translate: I saw a mother sitting with her little baby so desolately. She was dazing off while hugging her baby, hmm I think she wants to let her baby sleep and nursing her there. I saw analogously if I can capture that picture, it will be full of... hmm what should I name it? So emotionful. Unfortunately I didnt bring my DSLR cam and my friend Nadia's car's window glass is all filmed 70%, so I cant take pictures from the inside of her car).

There were also some other beggars there.. As a teenager in my opinion, I feel like actually we can overcame this condition. Poverty in Jakarta needs more action and solution to being battled with. I can cope with the fact that my city is soo crowded, traffic jammed, needs more economic and social and green improvements. Tapi ini harus cepet diatasin biar nggak makin parah karena actually udah merajalela. Poverty leads to criminality and other dangerous threats to our Jakarta, and also to an increase in social&economical difference. And then it also leads to a dirtier environment because everyone who couldnt afford for a house or dwelling place would sleep on streets or bus stop or anywhere! Eww. Can you imagine it?

Mungkin dengan jalan seperti Sutiyoso, dont give away money to them but leave them on their own and donate our moneys to social organizations. Jadi mungkin mereka bisa ada inisiatif balik ke kampungnya and then gone from Jakarta, and maybe they could rebuild or make some improvements in their own city/villages! :D:D

What do you think about this? What improvements can Jakarta make actually (maksud gw, yang realistis gitu sesuai ama pemerintahan dan keadaan skrg)? Hihii. I'm waiting for your comments! (I hope there'll be any haa haa).

Ciaoo.

Yohoo! Today my class (which means my team) won the competition as the 2nd winner! *proud* hahaha. Okay I was and am excited, hihi, because at first I was a little nervous and all.

Today was very fun at school. I laughed, screamed, smiled so often that I feel like my throat is a little sore ryte now, hahaha.

So there were three classmeetings today being held in my school, the first one is cerdas cermat (which is like a some school subjects being competed hehe) hmm. The winner was IX1, and my class was the second. Hahahaa I feeell prooouddd :)

And then the solo-singing competition and speech competition.

Laalaa, for the singing competition, I vote my friends Carlyn from IX2, Janet/IX1, or the candidate from my own class, Eveline. heahaha.
But there were some good performances by the VIII2 contestant, or Boya, IX3, which were so interesting! Haha the VIII2 contestants brought a Santa claus (actually a student which wore santa's suit), and she (yes, SHE) ran through the aisle of the hall ringing a bell while throwing candies to people and gave some to the judges! Haha. but unfortunately that, the singer performance was overlapped by that santa claus whereas her voice was fine actually. Hahaha. Every performance has its own minus and plusses. hohoo.

About the speech... vote for Putri (from what class, idontknow), and Conchita/ IX2. Hahahaha. They gave great speeches though their topic were so commonly used by another contestants. I like Putri's English pronouncation (which is great since I used to criticized others' pronouncations haahaa.) And Conchi's speech was hilarious (watching her speeching there in front of the audiences and with her dolt voice&moves, haa-haa).

Okay that's some overview of today's school activities (and also my excitement) yohoo. Love todayy so far!

A bien tot to the next post. I'll post something more about climate change. hahaha.

nah, new post! so far my weekend is greatly boring and lame.

Yesterday I was like busying myself all day with making some blog skins, though I dont use it : just for my own collection, ahahaha. anyways I wonder, did I do it just because to spend my time off my ex? >.< it's still a mistery even for me. I hate it that I once loved him soo and now when the spark has gone I still actually feel connected to him in some ways. Two days ago I asked him to leave me alone off my own until he's finished wit his final tests, i was really irritated with his attitude that day. Aaah, I'm missing him a little now hahaha.

Well, another thing that occupied my mind is "where are my friends?" hmm, isnt that weird? They're almost completely gone these days -- I meannn yeaa i was left behind yesterday when they were apparently going out somewhere. mate, now i feel as though you all left me behind. That isnt ryte, is that? :)

Okay, the good thing is, i (again) updated the layout! Nyahaha. So totally I've changed the layout 3 times this week. I thought this one would be the one i used for a month or so. The new theme is : global warming, the HOTtest, Newest, etc one. Hahahaha..
Well I got this new theme bcos of, yeah, I've been so often feeling it happens to me recently : Jakarta's hotter than ever! That-is-scary because Jakarta's actually already hot. hahaha. So it means it's SOOO HOT here.

Anyway though the theme is bigg and biggg I feel like I'll focused talking about the climate change. Again, because Jakarta's hotter than ever. hahaha. And i'm influenced that Indonesia now is holding the UN Climate Change Conference. Yoohoo..

Well -- i'll post more later, gotta study a little for the classmeeting competition tomorrow, ahaha. sh*t, I gotta participate in a somekind of smarties competition. aahh, that would be one tiring thing for today and tomorrow. Gotta go!

A bien tot!

Phew! The final exams has ended. HAHA~ Refreshing and holiday time = upcoming next!

Nah, today is the "break day" after the exams. FINALLYYY~ I thought I did unoptimally great, well thats it. The most wonderfully monstrous exam is MATH. I have the story for it.

So math was the second last installment of these exams (ah, what ever), and it was monstrously great. I hate it and i thought most of my school friends do. Even when the bell rang, no one has finished and even a pal of mine which is the winner of Maths olympiad last year said, " wow. that was one hard exams i need more time. " and a pal of mine which was last year's "BEST STUDENT OF THE YEAR" cried in the recess. She also hasnt finished those greatly-brain-racking questions. Hooah. Even while I was working on those question, sometimes I was wondering like, " what did my teacher think when she made all of these questions? did she even predict how much time we'd need to work on these? " well. that was it.
Now I'm spending my time working to improve this blog, yeaa and I wonder how to get more more more visitor? ;). Well I hope today would be great -- I'll be going with my grandfather all day - accompanying him from place to place, eating, talking, gossips (oops?), walking, well, anything. Poor him doesnt have any company since my grandma died >.<

Adios.
